Quite honestly, comedy at the Fringe always scares me, I mean we all saw Baby Reindeer right? But when a friend insists that there is someone we MUST go and see it’s kind of hard to say no and given Ania Magliano was almost sold out I guess that must be some sort of a positive?

A Star with Natural Charisma

Well, let me tell you that Ania Magliano is someone whose name we won’t be forgetting anytime soon. Magliano has an extremely natural charisma and charm on the stage, something that not all comedians have. The story-telling and presence on the stage is just captivating and Magliano has a real talent for pulling in the audience and making them listen with the intelligence, personal insight and high-energy. Easy to see why the rising young star is on another sell-out run.

Wit That Wins Over Everyone

The female-oriented humour in the show was something I imagined the men in the room to cringe at or hide away from and yet all the men I could see did no such thing – something Magliano had a talent for was addressing the jokes as not for men and keeping them almost amused by telling them a sports fact – genius. As a writer for Amelia Dimoldenberg you would expect a pretty high level of blunt humour, but this coming-of-age sort of story had a clever mixture of intelligent wit and quick-paced banter with the audience. The 26-year-old cleverly captures the unravelling life experiences you’re faced with in your mid 20s with no filters, giving constant reason for the audience to keep laughing away.

Don't Miss This Rising Star

To be honest, by the end of the show it felt like Ania was a distant friend that I hadn’t had a chance to catch up with in a while and it’s that friendly, bubbly personality that is going to soar her career and I can’t wait to see it happen. If you get the opportunity to see her, make sure to get yourself a ticket because it’s gonna be worth it.
