Short version: if something was free or paid for, it says so at the top of the post, and the opinion is mine either way.

Gifted and comped

Occasionally a restaurant, venue or publisher offers a meal, a ticket or a book at no cost. Where that happens the post carries a clear label — gifted, press ticket or ARC — in the first few lines. Accepting an invitation is never a promise of a positive review, and a place that disappoints is written about as it was.

Paid partnerships

Any post that has been paid for is labelled ad or paid partnership at the very top, in line with the UK ASA and CAP Code guidance. Paid posts are rare and only run for things I would have written about anyway.

Affiliate links

Some book and travel links may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. Where a post contains them it is stated up front. Commission never determines what gets recommended.

Corrections

If something here is wrong — a price, a date, a name — send a note through the contact form and it will be corrected, with a note on the post explaining what changed.

Your data

This site sets no advertising or tracking cookies and no analytics. The only thing kept in your browser is the last weather reading for the masthead, so it is not re-fetched on every page, and it never leaves your device. The contact and comment forms send what you type straight to Liv’s inbox and nowhere else. Live weather in the masthead is fetched from Open-Meteo, which receives only the coordinates of Leeds city centre, never yours.

Unless credited otherwise, every photograph on this site was taken by Liv. Reuse with a credit and a link back is fine; reuse without is not.
